Welcome

Welcome to the webpage of the Summer Nuclear Engineering Institute at The University of Texas at Austin.

Our one month institute, which will be held for the third time in July 2011, serves sophomores and juniors majoring in technical fields outside of nuclear engineering who are interested in pursuing a career or graduate school in the field. Institute students will study fundamental nuclear engineering concepts under our respected faculty, gain hands-on experience at our research reactor and other top-caliber experimental facilities. The students we host will receive six transferrable college credits as well as housing, meal plan, a travel and textbook allowance and a $1200 stipend.

Twenty-seven students from fifteen colleges and universities have graduated from the 2009 and 2010 institutes. We expect the 2011 institute to be the best yet! I hope this site provides all the information you need regarding the institute curriculum, the application process, qualifications we expect from our applicants, and life in Austin.
